What makes our process so unique?
All handcrafted custom pieces, from start to finish, are handled only by the artists of the Tree Green Team.
From picking the salvaged trees, to milling and transporting the lumber to the kiln to be dried.....we are there through out the entire process. When you contact TGT to inquire or to place a order, you will speak directly to the artist and creator, Melanie Steadman...Nobody else. Seems hard to believe but very true! A truly unique piece of Canadian art. One of the greatest elements that the team is proud to offer is that from start to finish you will be watch your tree come back to life as Melanie sends you photos of your creation as the teams craftsmen develop! We construct our furniture from two book matched slabs that will give a average width up to 40" wide. If you require a wider table we will use the next executive slab from the log. When you request a quote your quote given will be based on book matched slabs. We do have some single slabs available.....if interested please request for pricing.
All our pieces are created from trees that have already been cleared and we have rescued from otherwise becoming firewood. We have built a close relationship with loggers in the area and purchase logs from them which have come down for various reasons. If we know the age or where the trees came from we will surely pass the info on to you.
Our custom slab tables very popular. The slabs are usually reserved before we mill into the tree so reserving your slabs is important. We know exactly how many tables we can build from each log.
1. It all begins by locating the perfect tree or group of salvaged logs!
We source our trees from local loggers and arborist who have had to clear a lot or remove a tree for specific reasons. If we are lucky enough.....we will get the history of the tree and we can pass on the info to our clients. When you call us request a quote via our quote form....Melanie will let you know what type of trees we are currently working with and will offer to send a link to view some more sample pictures. If you are interested in a Specialty Single slab for your table let us know and we will send you over some images. Better yet come and give us a visit at our Slab Museum in Clarksburg.
2. We the mill all the logs on site with by hand as shown in video below or on a bandsaw.
3. Once the salvaged logs have been milled into slabs, they are are then kiln dried on site and monitored to assure the best drying process.
It is at this point that we start reserving the slabs.....by rule we usually don't have raw slabs for you to choose from when having a book matched table constructed . We reserve in log form while slabs are in the kiln. That being said....we do have some completed pieces being displayed in the showroom and offered on our ready to go table page. We will gladly send you a quick video and images of what we have so you can purchase over the phone or email and if you would like to visit our Slab Museum let us know.
When you order a custom furniture piece from us you are buying in to our unique process and taking part in our most recent mill of a fine rescued log. That is not to say that we don't have a completed piece ready to go in our showroom. Ask us what we have and Melanie will provide you pictures and details.
This is how fast they reserve. Melanie will provide you with some sample ideas of the look that your table may achieve by being built by the particular species that The Tree Green Team is currently working with! No two tables will EVER be the same.
You have the ONE AND ONLY never to be duplicated. Although you may like the grains one of the sample tables Melanie will provide you with......we cannot duplicate it exactly.
Your pieces will have their own special finger print! Request A quote or if you have questions simply ask or give us a call or text 705.607.0787 email@example.com
4. Let the it begin...Once the team has received your deposit..you are locked in given a delivery date and your piece will be built. The team will pick the slabs for you based on your wish list and by any discussions made with Melanie prior to ordering was they come out of the kiln. The slabs are dried, planed and brought into the shop to be dressed into your fine piece. Completion from order to finish is usually 6-8 weeks. Once we have arranged a completion date with you, the week of completion, Melanie will start to send you pictures of your table coming together (table being dressed). At this time you can decide on stain and finalize your leg styles. As far as staining, because each slab can take stain on differently we will send you stain options on the bottom of your slabs and you can choose the tone you would like to go.
